I am a little late to the game with all of this “resolution” talk, but I became totally inspired by this post that I saw on the locally owned Raleigh gem Happy + Hale‘s Instagram (@happyandhale) around the new year:
“Ditch the resolutions.
To resolve means to find a solution to a problem.
You are not a problem.
The way you showed up for your life the past year
was necessary for your growth.
Now is a time to reflect. To learn.
To create an intention, a positive call to shift,
A spark of magic + manifestation
rooted in self love
and backed with action.”
This is an incredible piece of wisdom. You are not a problem. You are not broken. You are doing the best that you can, everyday, with the tools that you have available to you. When you are ready to add new tools to your toolbox, start with compassion. Give yourself some credit. Ask yourself:
1) What am I already doing well?
2) In what areas do I want to grow?
In brainstorming your areas for growth, it is important to be specific, realistic, and most of all, kind. Growth can be painful, and growth takes time. You may make giant leaps, and you may make temporary backslides. Where you are on your journey is where you need to be at this moment. You are making steps and learning lessons that will serve you on your path.
Finding Balance has been going through some big growth areas this past year, the most specific being the move to Cary full time! A big THANKS to everyone who stuck with me during the move. I appreciate you more than you know!
An area for growth that I would like to start moving toward over the next year is more regular blog posts (at least once per quarter). I would love to hear from you- what kind of things (in the relationship and self-help world 🙂 ) do you want to read about?
A big THANKS again to Happy + Hale for their permission to use their post for my inspiration!
With Gratitude,
Jen W.
